Stuffed Bell Peppers

4 bell peppers
1 1/2# hamburger, 90%
1/2# mild Italian sausage
1 small yellow onion, diced
1 tsp. oregano
1 tsp. basil
black pepper to taste
3/4 cup tomatoes, canned, diced
2 tsp. garlic crushed
7 oz. feta cheese, crumbled
1/2 cup cheddar cheese, grated

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Grease an 8 x 8 baking pan. Cook the hamburger and sausage with onion, and garlic. Drain when done. Add oregano, basil and pepper and 1/2 cup tomatoes. Simmer for ten minutes. Cut off the tops of the peppers, clean out seeds and membranes. Mix the cheeses into the meat mixture. Fill peppers with the meat mixture. Top peppers with remaining tomatoes or place in baking dish around the base with any remaining filling. Bake for about 30 minutes, until the peppers are tender. Cut in half to serve.

Delicious with the Hot and Sour Cabbage Soup.
